The Crunch CRA-2000.1 is a single-channel Class D car audio amplifier designed for subwoofer systems. It provides a dedicated mono channel with selectable low-pass, subsonic, and bass-boost controls for tailoring low-frequency output. Its 1-ohm-stable design makes it suitable for systems wired to a compatible final impedance.

This amplifier is intended for listeners upgrading a vehicle with an aftermarket subwoofer or integrating bass into a factory or aftermarket audio system. RCA and speaker-level inputs support connection to a range of source units. DC signal-sensing turn-on can simplify installation in compatible systems.

The CRA-2000.1 is specified for up to 1 x 2000 watts at 1 ohm, with listed outputs of 1 x 1000 watts at 2 ohms and 1 x 500 watts at 4 ohms. A variable 40-300 Hz low-pass filter helps blend the subwoofer with full-range speakers. The 10-40 Hz subsonic filter gives installers an additional tool for system setup.

Crunch uses a switch-mode power supply and SPEED-FET MOSFET components in this amplifier. The Class D topology is designed for efficient operation in a compact mobile-audio format. A low-noise preamplifier circuit is included to handle incoming source-unit signal.

The included wired bass remote allows convenient adjustment of bass level from the driver’s seat. Design & Installation

The CRA-2000.1 uses a heavy aluminum heat sink with Crunch Quick Thermal Dispersion Technology to help manage heat. Its power supply uses switch-mode technology, while nickel-plated brass terminals and screw-down connectors are specified for dependable cable connections. LED power/protect indication and overload and speaker-short protection circuitry are included.

Use 4 AWG power and ground cable as specified, and install an external 125A fuse in the power cable within 18 inches of the battery connection. Mount the amplifier securely in a well-ventilated location and do not mount it upside down. Match the final speaker impedance to the amplifier’s 1-ohm minimum rating, then set the level, crossover, subsonic filter, and bass boost conservatively to suit the connected subwoofer system.
