The Cerwin-Vega CVM2 is a mobile bass restoration processor designed for car audio systems with RCA preamp signal paths. It processes low-frequency content before the signal reaches the next component in the system, such as an amplifier, equalizer, or crossover. This makes it a focused upgrade for listeners who want more control over bass response than a head unit alone provides.

The CVM2 uses a Bass Driver circuit to restore and reinforce low-frequency information in the audio signal. Its bass equalization circuit is intended to contour the processed bass response for the connected speaker system. The result is a tunable low-frequency presentation that can be adjusted for the vehicle, music source, subwoofer system, and listening preference.

Three front-panel controls provide access to Master Volume, Wide, and Sweep adjustments. Sweep selects the center frequency affected by bass restoration from 27 to 63 Hz, while Wide changes the range around that selected frequency. This allows the processor to be tuned around the bass character of a specific vehicle and subwoofer installation.

A wired, mountable remote location controller lets the driver adjust bass level from the listening position. The remote includes an LED indicator that brightens as bass level is increased and dims as it is reduced. It also provides adjustment of the subsonic control, helping tailor low-frequency filtering without accessing the main processor.

The CVM2 fits into an RCA-based signal chain ahead of a crossover, equalizer, or amplifier. It supports two-channel preamp inputs and outputs, along with high-level signal capability for compatible source units and amplifiers. Its selectable bass-output settings also provide recommendations based on amplifier input-voltage capability and minimum speaker size.

The CVM2 uses a compact processor enclosure with front-panel rotary controls, RCA signal connections, a remote-control socket, and dedicated power terminals. A power-on LED provides operating-status indication, while the separate remote controller combines bass-level and subsonic adjustments. Cerwin-Vega does not publish enclosure-material details.

Install the CVM2 in-line between an RCA-equipped source unit and the next signal-processing component or amplifier, ahead of a crossover when one is used. Power connections require 12V B+, chassis ground, and a switched 12V remote turn-on lead. Start with the factory bass-output setting, then set the Sweep, Wide, bass level, and subsonic control conservatively while matching the processor to the amplifier and speakers.
