The Kenwood KAC-D3104 is a compact four-channel Class D car audio power amplifier designed to add dedicated amplification to a vehicle sound system. It provides 50 watts RMS to each of four channels at 4 ohms, making it suited to powering upgraded front and rear speakers. Its compact chassis helps address installations where space behind panels, beneath seats, or in a trunk is limited.
This amplifier is a practical choice for listeners who want clearer, more controlled output than a typical factory head unit can provide. It supports both RCA line-level input and speaker-level input, allowing it to work with a variety of aftermarket or factory-source systems. Signal-sensing turn-on support can simplify integration when using a speaker-level source.
The KAC-D3104 uses Class D amplification and a Power MOS-FET switching power supply in a compact format. Its frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 50 kHz, supporting full-range speaker systems and high-resolution audio playback. Kenwood's Dual Sigma Drive negative-feedback circuit is designed to improve damping and signal accuracy.
Each A/B channel pair has selectable variable high-pass or low-pass filtering from 50 Hz to 200 Hz. This flexibility lets the amplifier run full-range speakers with high-pass filtering or support a filtered speaker/subwoofer configuration when the system design calls for it. Bass boost is available on the B-channel section at 40 Hz, adjustable from 0 dB to +18 dB.
For larger system plans, the KAC-D3104 can also be bridged to deliver 150 watts RMS to each of two 4-ohm channels. That makes it adaptable for a two-channel higher-power speaker setup, while its standard four-channel mode is appropriate for front-and-rear speaker upgrades. Proper impedance matching, power wiring, grounding, and gain setup remain important for reliable operation.
Key Features
- Four-Channel Class D Design: Powers four speakers from a compact amplifier chassis.
- 50W RMS x 4 at 4 Ohms: Delivers dedicated power for full-range speaker upgrades.
- 2-Ohm Load Capability: Produces 75W RMS per channel at 2 ohms.
- Bridgeable Channels: Configures as two 150W RMS channels at 4 ohms.
- Variable HPF and LPF: Helps match output to speaker system needs.
- Speaker-Level Input: Supports integration with systems lacking RCA outputs.
Design & Installation
The KAC-D3104 uses an extruded aluminum heat-sink design and a compact 6-11/16 by 2-3/16 by 7-3/8 inch chassis. Its terminal layout includes M6 screw-type battery and ground terminals plus M4 screw-type speaker output terminals. The design combines four channels of Class D amplification with separate A- and B-channel filter and sensitivity controls.
Install the amplifier in a dry, ventilated location with secure mounting and appropriate power, ground, remote-turn-on, signal, and speaker wiring. Use four-channel mode for separate front and rear speakers, or bridge paired channels only with a 4- to 8-ohm bridged load. Set input sensitivity and crossover controls after matching the amplifier to the source unit and connected speakers.

Can this amplifier power four car speakers?
Yes. It provides four amplified channels rated at 50 watts RMS each into 4-ohm loads. It can also deliver 75 watts RMS per channel into 2-ohm loads.
Can the KAC-D3104 be bridged?
Yes. Channels can be bridged for 150 watts RMS x2 into 4-ohm loads. Kenwood specifies a 4- to 8-ohm allowable impedance for bridged operation.
Will it work with a factory radio?
It has speaker-level input with signal-sensing turn-on, which supports integration with systems that use speaker-output signals. It also has RCA line inputs for aftermarket source units with preamp outputs.
What crossover controls does it have?
The A and B channel sections each have selectable high-pass, off, and low-pass filter modes. Both filters are variable from 50 Hz to 200 Hz with a 12 dB/octave slope.
What power wiring capacity should be planned for?
Kenwood specifies 14.4V operation with an allowable 11V to 16V range and 25A current consumption. The amplifier uses two 20A fuses and M6 screw-type battery and ground terminals.
