Hertz ML1800-3 7" Mille Legend Woofers

The Hertz ML1800-3 Mille Legend is a pair of 7-inch component woofers for high-performance car audio systems. It is designed to extend low-frequency and mid-bass output beyond what smaller component woofers can provide. Each woofer uses a 4-ohm design and is rated for 200 watts continuous power handling.

These woofers suit enthusiasts building an actively tuned system or a matched Mille Legend component system. Their 180 mm cone area is intended to move more air than a typical 6.5-inch driver while maintaining useful upper-frequency response. The published frequency-response range is 38 Hz to 6 kHz.

The ML1800-3 uses a pressed-pulp cone reinforced with cotton fibers. This material balances low moving mass with cone stiffness for controlled response through the woofer's operating range. A 50 mm voice coil supports its power-handling capability.

Hertz combines a neodymium motor with CNC-machined low-carbon steel plates and an aluminum-covered pole. The woofer also uses the brand's exponential V-Cone profile and Boundary Free IIR rubber surround. These construction elements are intended to support linear cone motion and broad dispersion.

A three-spoke aluminum-alloy basket provides an open, vented structure behind the cone, while the included die-cast aluminum grilles protect the drivers. The ML1800-3 can be used with compatible passive crossover hardware or an active crossover and amplifier arrangement. Verify available mounting space, mounting-hole diameter, and amplifier compatibility before installation.

Design & Installation

The ML1800-3 is built around a pressed-pulp and cotton-fiber cone, IIR rubber surround, neodymium magnet, and three-spoke anti-resonant aluminum-alloy basket. Its basket edge is CNC machined, and the pole is aluminum covered. The supplied grille is die-cast aluminum with a diamond-cut Hertz logo.

Use the manufacturer's physical dimensions to confirm fitment before cutting a door panel or fabrication panel: the mounting opening dimension is 160 mm, total depth is 88 mm, mounting depth is 76 mm, and the mounting-hole pattern dimension is 173 mm. Connect each 4-ohm woofer to amplification and crossover processing appropriate for the planned system. For a matched Hertz passive setup, the manufacturer's MLCX 2 TW.3 crossover is specified for use with the ML 1800.3 alongside compatible Mille Legend components.
