Gravity GR-DBE 2-Channel Line-Out Converter with Bass Enhancer

The Gravity GR-DBE is a 2-channel line-out converter designed to add aftermarket amplification to a factory car audio system without dedicated RCA preamp outputs. It accepts left and right speaker-level signals and converts them to low-level RCA outputs for compatible amplifiers. This makes it suited to vehicles where retaining the original radio is preferred.

Separate main and bass RCA outputs let the GR-DBE feed a full-range amplifier and a subwoofer amplifier from the same factory audio signal. Independent Main Level and Bass Level controls help match the output signal to the connected amplifiers. A Maximized LED provides a visual indication when the output is approaching its maximum level.

The GR-DBE includes Gravity BassLift™ digital bass enhancement, intended to compensate for low-frequency roll-off that can occur in some factory audio systems. Its dedicated Bass Enhancer control allows the amount of enhancement to be adjusted during system tuning. The bass-output level can also be adjusted from the included remote level-control knob.

With a specified frequency response of 10 Hz to 100 kHz, 0.01% THD, and a signal-to-noise ratio above 110 dB, the converter is designed for clean signal transfer between factory audio sources and aftermarket equipment. It supports speaker-level input up to 400 watts per channel and provides up to 9.5 Vrms preamp output. These capabilities make it appropriate for systems adding amplified speakers, a subwoofer, or both.

The unit supports DC-offset auto turn-on through its speaker inputs, allowing it to activate an amplifier without a conventional remote wire in compatible vehicles. A jumper also allows bypass of auto turn-on when using a traditional remote turn-on lead from the head unit. Its compact chassis can be mounted in a dry, secure location such as under a seat or behind the dashboard.

The GR-DBE uses a compact 6-3/8-inch-wide chassis with dedicated power, ground, remote, speaker-input, RCA-output, and remote-control connections. Front-panel controls include Bass Level, Main Level, and Bass Enhancer adjustments, along with Power and Maximized indicators. Available product documentation does not specify the enclosure material.

Mount the unit securely in a dry, ventilated area away from excessive heat, moisture, and vibration. Connect the factory left and right speaker wires to the high-level inputs, then run RCA connections from the Main and/or Bass outputs to compatible amplifiers. Use a 1-amp fused power connection, establish a solid chassis ground, and begin tuning with the converter and amplifier gains set low.
