The Cerwin-Vega XED4004D is a compact four-channel, full-range Class-D amplifier for adding dedicated power to an aftermarket car audio system. It is designed to drive front and rear speakers from a single chassis while giving installers crossover and gain controls for system tuning. Its four-channel layout suits vehicles receiving amplified component or coaxial speakers.

With 60 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms and 90 watts RMS per channel at 2 ohms, the XED4004D provides a practical power upgrade over many head-unit amplifier sections. It can be used in a conventional four-speaker installation or in a three-channel arrangement that bridges one channel pair. The amplifier supports a 2-ohm minimum stereo load and a 4-ohm minimum bridged load.

Class-D topology and a full PWM power supply support efficient operation in a small footprint. The amplifier has a 10 Hz to 30 kHz bandwidth, adjustable gain, and selectable high-pass, full-range, or low-pass crossover modes. These controls allow the amplifier to be configured around the speakers and system goals rather than relying solely on source-unit settings.

For signal integration, the XED4004D accepts both low-level RCA and high-level speaker inputs. This gives installers an option for connecting an aftermarket receiver with RCA outputs or a compatible factory-radio system without RCA preouts. Input sensitivity ranges are provided for both connection types to help match the amplifier to the source signal.

The XED4004D fits well into a speaker-focused upgrade path, such as powering front components and rear fill, or running a front stage with a bridged pair for another compatible load. Its compact 6.3 by 4.7 inch chassis is easier to place than larger conventional amplifiers, provided airflow remains available. A separate power-and-ground wiring kit, inline fuse protection, signal wiring, speakers, and installation hardware are required for a complete installation.

Mount the amplifier on a solid surface with ventilation around it and keep the controls accessible for setup. Use at least 8-gauge power and ground wire, protect the positive power lead with an external fuse near the battery, and connect the ground securely to bare vehicle chassis metal. Use 2-ohm-or-higher speaker loads in stereo operation or 4-ohm-or-higher loads when bridging channels.
