Rockford Fosgate M2-8 8" Marine Coaxial Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate M2-8 is a pair of white 8-inch, two-way coaxial marine speakers designed for boats, powersports vehicles, and other open-air installations. They provide a full-range speaker upgrade where conventional vehicle speakers may not be suited to moisture, salt, UV exposure, and vibration. Integrated RGB illumination adds a coordinated visual element to compatible Color Optix systems.

Each M2-8 uses a 4-ohm design with 250 watts RMS and 1,000 watts peak power handling. Its 8-inch woofer and integrated 1-inch dome tweeter are intended to cover bass, midrange, and treble from a single mounting location. A 35 Hz to 24 kHz frequency response and 93.1 dB sensitivity support strong output from an appropriately matched amplifier.

The speaker uses an integrated concealed crossover network with a 12 dB-per-octave high-pass section. This network directs high frequencies to the integrated tweeter while maintaining a clean, self-contained coaxial installation. The tweeter uses a laminated PXNX dome and dual neodymium magnet motor.

Element Ready construction is built around materials selected for marine and outdoor use, including a UV- and salt-fog-resistant TPE surround, mineral-filled polypropylene cone, UV-inhibited frame, and corrosion-resistant terminals. The M2-8 is IP67 certified for environmental protection. A vented motor includes a water-repelling nano-coated mesh screen.

For RGB control, the speakers work with the Rockford Fosgate PMX-RGB Color Optix controller and RF Connect app, both used to adjust compatible lighting functions. Integrated Deutsch RGB and speaker receptacles support plug-and-play connections within the Color Optix ecosystem. The package is sold as a pair and includes white sport grille inserts, stainless-steel grille inserts, white grille rings, and stainless-steel mounting hardware.

Design & Installation

The M2-8 uses a PA66 frame with 30% glass fill and UV inhibitors, a mineral-filled polypropylene cone, and a co-molded TPE surround. Its gold-plated marine-grade brass terminals, silicone tinsel leads, linear aramid-polyester composite spider, and sealed crossover are designed for outdoor audio applications. The white finish is paired with a 100% UV-stable Centrex plastic grille system and an alternate stainless-steel grille insert.

Confirm a 7.05-inch cutout diameter and at least 3.35 inches of mounting depth before installation. The speaker uses six mounting points on a 7.76-inch screw-mounting diameter and includes stainless-steel hardware. For Color Optix lighting adjustments, connect the integrated RGB system to a compatible PMX-RGB controller and use the RF Connect app; the controller is sold separately.
