Hifonics BRL1200.4 4-Channel Car Amplifier

The Hifonics BRL1200.4 is a four-channel car audio amplifier designed to add dedicated power to a vehicle speaker system. It delivers up to 150 watts RMS per channel at 4 ohms or 300 watts RMS per channel at 2 ohms. It is suited to systems that need an external amplifier for front and rear speakers, component sets, or a mixed full-range setup.

Its four-channel layout supports conventional stereo operation as well as bridged operation for compatible higher-power channels. In bridged configuration, it is rated for 600 watts RMS per channel into 4 ohms across two channels. This flexibility allows the amplifier to be used in a speaker-focused system now and adapted as the system changes.

The BRL1200.4 uses Hifonics Super D Class amplification with a Class-D chipset, half-bridge design, and Ultra-Fi MOSFET output devices. Its design is intended to provide efficient power delivery while managing heat in compact vehicle installations. A mass-loaded extruded aluminum heat sink supports thermal management during normal operation.

For system tuning, the amplifier includes variable high-pass and low-pass crossovers with a 40 Hz to 2 kHz adjustment range. The 12 dB-per-octave electronic crossover helps direct appropriate frequencies to full-range speakers or other compatible channels. Built-in bass control and a 0.2 to 9V input sensitivity range provide additional setup flexibility.

A selectable illuminated logo can operate as a constant blue light, a VU meter that follows audio level, or remain off. The VU mode can assist with visual gain adjustment during setup. Protection circuitry monitors over-voltage, under-voltage, short-circuit, overcurrent, and thermal conditions to help safeguard the amplifier and connected system.

Its angled terminal layout is intended to make cable access and wire routing more manageable. The amplifier measures 9.75 x 5.75 x 2.25 inches.

Install the amplifier on a secure surface with adequate airflow and use properly sized power, ground, signal, and speaker wiring. Hifonics specifies an external 80A fuse and lists 2 AWG power cable in its cable-size guide for this model. Match connected speakers to the amplifier's 2-ohm minimum unbridged load or 4-ohm minimum bridged load, then set gain and crossover controls carefully during installation.
