A nato set neck with a "C" profile combines with a 12-inch-radius walnut fingerboard for a familiar fretting feel. Eighteen vintage-style frets provide access up to the body joint at the 12th fret.

The basswood top, back, and sides are supported by X-bracing for a resonant acoustic response. Gretsch describes the instrument's voice as warm and woody, with full-sounding bass for its compact format. It is suitable for both picked passages and fingerstyle playing.

A walnut top-load bridge with a compensated saddle helps support practical string setup and intonation across the neck. The synthetic bone nut, 1.6875-inch nut width, and 24-inch scale are central to the guitar's comfortable playing dimensions. D'Addario EJ16 phosphor bronze light-gauge strings are fitted from the factory.

The G9500 uses a non-cutaway basswood body with aged white binding, white-and-black rosette rings, and a vintage semi-gloss finish. Its walnut fingerboard has white pearloid dot inlays and black neck binding. Nickel-plated hardware, a 1950s-style 3x3 headstock, and a single-ply white pickguard reinforce its classic Gretsch styling.

As an acoustic guitar, the G9500 does not require amplifier wiring or speaker installation. It is supplied with D'Addario EJ16 phosphor bronze light strings in .012-.053 gauges, and the included truss rod wrench supports routine setup adjustment. A case or gig bag is optional rather than included; Gretsch lists the G6296 hardshell case and G2180 gig bag as compatible optional accessories.
