The Fender Player II Jazz Bass is a four-string solid-body electric bass built for players who want the familiar Jazz Bass layout with contemporary playability details. Its alder body, maple neck, and rosewood fingerboard provide a traditional foundation for practice, rehearsal, recording, and stage use. This right-handed model is finished in Aquatone Blue and uses Fender's offset Jazz Bass body shape.
Two Player Series Alnico 5 single-coil Jazz Bass pickups provide separate neck-position and bridge-position voices, controlled by individual volume knobs and a master tone control. This layout lets players blend the pickups for different tonal balances rather than relying on a pickup selector. The result is a flexible bass voice suited to fingerstyle, picked, and slap-oriented playing approaches.
The maple neck uses Fender's Modern "C" profile, with a satin urethane finish on the back for a smooth playing surface. Its 34-inch scale and 20 medium-jumbo frets follow standard long-scale electric bass dimensions. A 9.5-inch-radius slab rosewood fingerboard with rolled edges supports comfortable fretting across the neck.
Hardware centers on a standard four-saddle bridge with single-groove steel barrel saddles and five-screw vintage-style mounting. Standard open-gear tuning machines, a synthetic bone nut, and a four-bolt neck plate support a practical, serviceable design. Nickel/chrome hardware, a 3-ply parchment pickguard, and black pickup covers complement the Aquatone Blue finish.
The Player II Jazz Bass connects to a bass amplifier, DI, pedalboard, or recording interface through its standard instrument output. Its two-volume control layout can be useful when dialing in a blended pickup sound before sending the signal to the rest of a bass rig. For transport protection, Fender recommends compatible Jazz Bass cases and gig bags, sold separately.
Key Features
- Alder Body: A contoured solid alder body provides the classic offset Jazz Bass platform.
- JJ Pickup Layout: Two Player Series Alnico 5 single-coil pickups offer separate pickup-volume control.
- Modern "C" Neck: Maple neck profile is designed for a familiar, comfortable hand position.
- Rosewood Fingerboard: Slab rosewood board has rolled edges and a 9.5-inch radius.
- 34-Inch Scale: Full long-scale length supports conventional four-string bass setups.
- Four-Saddle Bridge: Steel barrel saddles allow individual string intonation adjustment.
Design & Installation
This bass combines an alder solid body with a gloss polyester finish, a maple neck, and a slab rosewood fingerboard. The neck has a satin urethane back finish and gloss urethane headstock face, while the body uses a parchment 3-ply pickguard and nickel/chrome hardware. Its neck is attached with a standard four-bolt construction and an "F" logo neck plate.
Use a standard bass instrument cable to connect the bass to an appropriate amplifier, DI, or interface. The factory string set is Fender USA 7250M nickel-plated steel in .045-.105 gauges; setup adjustments should use a .070-inch hex wrench for saddle height and a 3/16-inch hex wrench for the head-adjust truss rod. Fender recommends its Classic Series Precision/Jazz Bass Wood Hardshell Case or FB1225 Electric Bass Gig Bag for transport; both are not included.
