The Fender Player II Jazz Bass is a right-handed, 4-string electric bass built around the familiar offset Jazz Bass body shape. It is designed for players who want a straightforward passive-style control layout with two single-coil pickups and individual volume control for each pickup. The 3-Color Sunburst finish, alder body, and rosewood fingerboard give this version a traditional Fender presentation.
This bass suits players moving from a first instrument into a more fully featured stage, rehearsal, or recording bass. Its 34-inch scale length, 1.5-inch nut width, and Modern “C” maple neck provide the established long-scale Jazz Bass format. Rolled fingerboard edges, a 9.5-inch radius, and 20 medium-jumbo frets support a comfortable fretting surface for a wide range of bass parts.
Two Player Series Alnico 5 Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups provide the instrument’s core voice. The separate middle-pickup and bridge-pickup volume controls let the player blend the pickups, while the master tone control adjusts high-frequency content. This layout supports clean, articulate bass lines as well as more focused bridge-pickup sounds without adding onboard switching.
The alder solid body is finished in gloss polyester, while the maple neck uses satin urethane on its back and gloss urethane on the headstock face. A 4-saddle standard bridge with single-groove steel barrel saddles gives each string its own intonation and height-adjustment point. Standard open-gear tuning machines, a vintage-style disc string tree, and nickel/chrome hardware complete the functional hardware package.
For a complete playing setup, pair the Player II Jazz Bass with a suitable bass amplifier or direct-injection signal path and a standard instrument cable. It arrives fitted with Fender USA 7250M nickel-plated steel strings in .045-.105 gauges. Players who need travel protection can add Fender’s recommended Classic Series Precision/Jazz Bass wood hardshell case or FB1225 Electric Bass gig bag, both sold separately.

- Modern “C” Maple Neck: A familiar neck profile supports comfortable fretting across the 34-inch scale.
- Rosewood Fingerboard: Slab rosewood has rolled edges, a 9.5-inch radius, and white dot inlays.
- 4-Saddle Standard Bridge: Individual steel barrel saddles allow per-string setup and intonation adjustment.
- Open-Gear Tuners: Standard open-gear tuning machines provide traditional bass tuning hardware.
Design & Installation
The Player II Jazz Bass uses a solid alder body with a gloss polyester finish and a 3-ply parchment pickguard. Its maple neck is secured with a 4-bolt standard construction, while the neck plate carries an “F” logo. Black pickup covers, black plastic control knobs with white indicators, and nickel/chrome hardware complement the 3-Color Sunburst finish.
Set up the bass with its installed .045-.105 strings in standard four-string bass tuning, then connect it to an appropriate bass amp, pedalboard, DI, or recording interface with an instrument cable. The bridge uses five-screw vintage-style mounting and individual saddles for setup adjustments. Fender specifies a .070-inch hex wrench for saddle-height adjustment and a 3/16-inch hex wrench for the head-adjust single-action truss rod.
