Crunch GP-1500.4 4-Channel Car Amplifier

The Crunch GP-1500.4 is a four-channel Class A/B car audio amplifier designed to add external power and system flexibility to a vehicle sound system. It can drive four speakers in stereo or support bridged channel pairs for higher-power applications. This makes it suitable for upgrading factory or aftermarket speaker systems while retaining control over system configuration.

With output ratings of 4 x 185 watts at 4 ohms and 4 x 375 watts at 2 ohms, the GP-1500.4 is built for systems using compatible full-range speakers. It can also bridge into two 4-ohm loads at 750 watts per channel pair. The amplifier supports four-channel stereo, dual stereo bridged, stereo plus bridged mono, and dual bridged mono operating modes.

The built-in variable electronic crossover helps tailor the signal sent to connected speakers. Selectable full-range, high-pass, and low-pass modes allow installers to configure channel pairs for component speakers, coaxial speakers, or compatible subwoofer duty. Variable high-pass and low-pass controls cover a 40 to 400 Hz range.

The amplifier accepts both RCA low-level and speaker-level inputs, providing connection options for aftermarket receivers and many factory audio systems. Its adjustable 0.2 to 9V input sensitivity range supports level matching to the source unit. A low-noise preamplifier circuit is used ahead of the amplifier section.

Crunch equips the GP-1500.4 with SPEED-FET MOSFET output components, a pulse-width-modulated power supply, and an aluminum heat sink using Quick Thermal Dispersion technology. Switchable bass boost provides 0, +6, or +12 dB settings. The compact chassis can serve as the power stage for a four-speaker upgrade or a mixed system using stereo speakers and bridged channels.

Design & Installation

The GP-1500.4 uses a black and red aluminum heat-sink chassis with Class A/B circuitry. Its power section incorporates a high-energy PWM power supply and SPEED-FET MOSFET components. Nickel-plated brass terminals with screw-down connections provide the amplifier's power and speaker connection points.

Mount the amplifier in a secure, ventilated location away from moisture and excessive heat. Use up to 4 AWG power and ground wire, use speaker wire up to 12 AWG at the amplifier terminals, and protect the power connection with appropriate fusing. Configure each channel pair for full-range, high-pass, or low-pass use, and maintain a 2-ohm minimum load per unbridged channel or a 4-ohm minimum load when bridged.
