The BOSS RC-600 is a floor-based Loop Station built for musicians who want to create layered performances without relying on a computer. It records, plays, and manages up to six simultaneous stereo phrase tracks for developing songs, arrangements, and live loop sets in real time. Guitarists, vocalists, keyboard players, percussionists, and multi-instrumentalists can connect several sources and organize them from one pedalboard-format unit.

Its six-track architecture supports serial or parallel track operation, allowing users to build sections, textures, and transitions that suit their performance approach. The RC-600 records in 44.1 kHz, 32-bit floating-point stereo WAV format and uses 32-bit AD/DA conversion. This design is intended to preserve detail when layering instruments, microphones, and external audio devices.

Two balanced XLR microphone inputs with phantom power and two instrument inputs provide flexible source connectivity. An onboard input mixer includes two microphone compressors and dedicated channel EQ, helping users prepare sources before recording. Three assignable stereo output pairs and a headphones output support routing to stage monitors, a mixer, recording equipment, or personal monitoring.

The RC-600 includes 49 Input FX, 53 Track FX, and two Master FX types for shaping sound before, during, and after loop capture. Up to four Input FX and four Track FX can be used at once, while time-based effects can synchronize with loop tempo and onboard rhythms. More than 200 rhythm patterns and 16 rhythm kits provide backing options for practice, writing, and performance.

Nine freely assignable footswitches and three pedal modes offer hands-free control over track functions, effects, rhythm features, tempo, and other assignments. USB supports data backup, WAV phrase import and export through BOSS Tone Studio, and rhythm-pattern import through RC Rhythm Converter. MIDI I/O and two external control jacks allow the RC-600 to expand into more elaborate performance and recording systems.

Design & Installation

The RC-600 uses a streamlined, durable metal body designed for floor operation. Its control surface combines nine footswitches, four parameter knobs, dedicated buttons, a large circular loop-status indicator, and a backlit 128 x 64 graphic LCD. The chassis measures 17-1/8 inches wide by 6-7/16 inches deep by 2-5/8 inches high and weighs 5 lb 5 oz.

Place the unit where its footswitches are accessible and power it with the included AC adaptor. Connect microphones to the balanced XLR MIC IN 1 and 2 inputs, instruments or line-level sources to INST IN 1 and 2, and route the MAIN OUTPUT or SUB OUTPUT pairs to a mixer, amplifier, interface, or powered speakers. Optional footswitches or expression pedals can connect through the two external control jacks, while USB and MIDI can be used for computer and hardware integration.
