The Fender Player II Stratocaster HSS is a right-handed solidbody electric guitar with a Coral Red gloss polyester finish and a slab rosewood fingerboard. An alder Stratocaster body provides the platform for the guitar's contoured design, while the maple neck uses Fender's Modern "C" profile. A five-position blade switch selects the available pickup combinations. Master volume, a neck/middle tone control, and a separate bridge tone control provide straightforward adjustment from the guitar.

A two-point synchronized tremolo with bent steel saddles provides vibrato control, and a standard tremolo arm is specified for the bridge. Fender ClassicGear tuning machines use an 18:1 gear ratio for precise tuning adjustment. The guitar is factory specified with Fender USA 250L nickel-plated steel strings in .009-.042 gauge.

The Player II Stratocaster HSS fits naturally into an electric-guitar rig with an appropriate guitar amplifier and instrument cable. No vehicle installation is applicable; this is a fretted electric guitar intended for a guitar-performance setup. Connect it to suitable guitar amplification using a standard instrument cable, then tune and set up the tremolo, neck relief, and action as needed for the player's strings and playing style.
