The Fender Player II Jazz Bass is a four-string solid-body electric bass designed for players who want a familiar Jazz Bass layout with modern playing refinements. Its offset alder body and dual single-coil pickup arrangement provide a flexible foundation for rehearsal, recording, and stage use. This Coral Red version pairs the body with a maple fingerboard for a distinct visual and playing feel.

This bass suits developing players, working musicians, and anyone building a dependable passive bass setup. Separate volume controls for the middle and bridge pickups let the player blend the two pickup voices, while the master tone control shapes the overall top end. The result is a straightforward control layout that can cover focused bridge-pickup sounds, fuller blended settings, and many points between.

Player Series Alnico 5 Single-Coil Jazz Bass pickups are fitted at the middle and bridge positions in a JJ configuration. These pickups are intended to provide clear highs, present midrange response, and substantial low-end output. The passive electronics use no pickup selector switch, keeping adjustments direct and familiar.

A maple neck with a Modern "C" profile supports a comfortable fretting hand position across the 34-inch scale. The 9.5-inch-radius maple fingerboard has rolled edges, 20 medium-jumbo frets, black dot markers, and a 1.5-inch synthetic-bone nut. Its satin urethane neck-back finish and gloss headstock face combine two distinct finish treatments.

The Player II Jazz Bass is ready to serve as the central instrument in a bass rig when paired with a suitable instrument cable and bass amplifier. Its adjustable four-saddle standard bridge supports individual saddle setup, and the open-gear tuning machines handle routine tuning adjustments. It is also a practical platform for players who prefer to refine their sound later through amplification, pedals, or recording equipment.

Key Features

  • JJ Pickup Configuration: Two Player Series Alnico 5 single-coil Jazz Bass pickups allow pickup blending.
  • Contoured Alder Body: Solid alder construction uses the recognizable Jazz Bass offset body shape.
  • Maple Fingerboard: A 9.5-inch-radius maple board has rolled edges and black dots.
  • Modern "C" Maple Neck: The bolt-on maple neck is shaped for conventional bass playing comfort.
  • Four-Saddle Bridge: Single-groove steel barrel saddles allow individual setup and intonation adjustment.
  • Open-Gear Tuners: Standard open-gear tuning machines provide conventional four-string bass tuning hardware.

Design & Installation

This right-hand bass uses a gloss polyester Coral Red body finish with nickel/chrome hardware, a three-ply parchment pickguard, and black pickup covers. The neck attaches with a four-bolt standard construction and an "F" logo neck plate. Its hardware also includes vintage-style disc string trees, standard strap buttons, and black plastic control knobs with white indicators.

No vehicle or car-audio installation is applicable because this is an electric bass guitar, not a car-audio component. Set up the instrument through a compatible bass amplifier or recording input using an instrument cable, then adjust pickup volumes and master tone to suit the system. Fender specifies a 0.070-inch hex wrench for saddle-height adjustment and a 3/16-inch hex wrench for truss-rod adjustment; setup changes should be made carefully.
