The Jackson JS Series Concert Bass Minion JS1X is a right-handed, four-string electric bass built around a compact 28.6-inch short scale. It provides a more manageable reach for players with smaller hands, younger musicians, or anyone who prefers a shorter instrument. The Satin Black finish, black hardware, and pointed Jackson headstock give it a focused, stage-ready appearance.

A poplar Concert Bass body keeps the platform straightforward and balanced, while the one-piece maple neck uses bolt-on construction. Graphite reinforcement rods and a dual-action truss rod support neck adjustment and stability. Its satin neck finish and 12-inch-radius amaranth fingerboard provide a smooth, familiar playing surface.

The JS1X uses a PJ pickup layout with a Jackson P-Style neck pickup and Jackson J-Style bridge pickup. This combination allows players to use the fuller neck-pickup voice, the more defined bridge-pickup voice, or a blend of both. Individual volume controls and a master tone control provide direct, passive-style sound shaping at the instrument.

With 22 jumbo frets, the bass offers a compact layout without sacrificing access to a broad note range. The black plastic nut measures 1.5 inches wide, helping keep string spacing approachable for a short-scale design. Pearloid sharkfin position inlays provide clear fretboard reference points.

For a practice, rehearsal, recording, or live setup, connect the JS1X to a bass amplifier or audio interface with a standard instrument cable. Its four-saddle adjustable HiMass bridge and sealed die-cast tuners support normal string setup and intonation adjustments. It is supplied with nickel-plated steel strings in .045-.105 gauges, while a compatible Jackson gig bag is available separately.

Key Features

  • 28.6-Inch Short Scale: Creates a more compact playing reach than a standard long-scale bass.
  • PJ Pickup Configuration: Combines P-Style neck and J-Style bridge pickup voices.
  • Poplar Concert Bass Body: Provides the instrument's compact Concert Bass platform.
  • Graphite-Reinforced Maple Neck: Adds reinforcement to the bolt-on maple neck.
  • 22 Jumbo Frets: Offers a broad playing range on a compact neck.
  • Adjustable HiMass Bridge: Supports individual saddle adjustment for setup and intonation.

Design & Installation

The JS1X combines a satin-finished poplar body with a satin maple neck, amaranth fingerboard, black hardware, and pearloid sharkfin inlays. Its neck is bolt-on with a scarf joint and graphite reinforcement, while the pointed 4-in-line headstock retains Jackson's recognizable visual identity. There is no pickguard.

As an electric bass, the JS1X needs an appropriate bass amplifier, pedal chain, or audio interface and a standard instrument cable for amplified use. Use the two volume controls to balance the neck and bridge pickups, then set the master tone to suit the system and playing style. The bridge saddles and dual-action truss rod should be adjusted carefully as part of a proper bass setup.
