The Rockford Fosgate T1682 is a pair of 6x8-inch, 2-way coaxial full-range car speakers for replacing factory-installed door or rear-deck speakers. It is designed for vehicles that use the common 6x8-inch speaker format and need more power handling than many factory speakers provide. Each speaker combines a woofer and tweeter in one assembly for a straightforward full-range upgrade.

With a 4-ohm nominal impedance and 80 watts RMS power handling per speaker, the T1682 can be used with a compatible aftermarket amplifier or a suitable factory or aftermarket radio. Its 55 Hz to 22 kHz frequency response covers bass, midrange, and treble duties within a conventional full-range speaker system. The 88 dB sensitivity rating supports practical output from appropriately matched power.

The speaker uses an injection-molded carbon fiber and polypropylene cone with a butyl rubber surround. This combination is paired with Rockford Fosgate's VAST surround arrangement, which is intended to maximize effective cone area within the speaker frame. A 1-inch aluminum-dome tweeter handles high frequencies from its coaxial mounting position.

An Integrated Concealed Crossover is built into each speaker, avoiding the need to mount a separate external crossover for the coaxial design. The tweeter high-pass crossover uses a 12 dB-per-octave Butterworth alignment. This makes the T1682 a practical option for systems where installation space is limited and a separate component set is not required.

The T1682 is well suited to a speaker-only upgrade or as part of a larger system with an external amplifier and subwoofer. Its recommended amplifier range is 24 to 80 watts RMS per channel, matching its continuous power rating. Rockford Fosgate specifies VAST technology as part of the surround design.

Confirm that the vehicle has a 6x8-inch location with a 5.08 x 7.32-inch mounting opening and at least 2.60 inches of mounting depth. The T1682 does not include grilles or a Multi-OEM adapter plate, but mounting hardware is included. Observe speaker polarity, check window and door-panel clearance, and use an amplifier rated within the recommended 24 to 80 watts RMS per channel range for a properly matched installation.
