The Rockford Fosgate P2V2-68 is a pair of 6x8-inch, 4-ohm convertible car speakers designed for vehicles that need a flexible upgrade from factory sound. Each speaker can be used with its tweeter installed for a conventional coaxial layout, or with the tweeter removed for a separated component-style installation. This gives installers a practical option for vehicles with either one speaker location or dedicated woofer and tweeter locations.

Rated for 75 watts RMS and 150 watts peak per speaker, the P2V2-68 is suited to amplified systems as well as carefully matched factory-replacement upgrades. Its 45 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response covers bass, midrange, and high-frequency duties from a single 6x8-inch speaker position. The 89 dB sensitivity rating supports useful output with appropriately matched power.

The convertible design is built around Rockford Fosgate's Interchangeable Locking Mechanism, which allows the 3/4-inch tweeter to lock into or release from the woofer assembly. In coaxial mode, the speaker is a straightforward drop-in solution for a single factory opening. In component mode, the separately mounted tweeter can be placed higher in the vehicle to support a more focused front soundstage.

A 20–40% mica-reinforced polypropylene curvilinear woofer cone and Santoprene half-roll surround provide the moving assembly with rigidity and durability. The 3/4-inch Tetolon inverted-dome tweeter is paired with a passive crossover when mounted separately. The included crossover offers standard 0 dB tweeter output or an optional -3 dB attenuation setting.

The P2V2-68 also uses a fit-focused frame design, removable motor cover, and supplied cutout template to help accommodate modern vehicle locations. It includes the main speakers, separate tweeters, crossovers, tweeter mounting cups, wiring accessories, and installation hardware. Grilles are not included, so factory panels or separately purchased grilles may be needed where the speaker faces are exposed.

Design & Installation

The P2V2-68 combines a 20–40% mica-reinforced polypropylene curvilinear cone with a Santoprene half-roll surround, ferrite magnet, and 1.25-inch woofer voice coil. Its 3/4-inch Tetolon inverted-dome tweeter can remain integrated with the woofer or be moved to a separate location using the included flush- or surface-mount cups. Two woofer phase plugs are included for use after the tweeters are removed from the woofer assemblies.

Confirm the vehicle's available cutout, mounting depth, and front clearance before installation; the required cutout is 7.19 by 5.18 inches and standard mounting depth is 2.61 inches. For a coaxial setup, retain the tweeters in the woofers and wire the speakers conventionally. For a component setup, install the tweeters in the supplied cups and connect the included passive crossover to the woofer's dedicated crossover output, selecting either the 0 dB or -3 dB tweeter input as appropriate.
