Rockford Fosgate P2V2-68HO 6x8" Convertible Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate P2V2-68HO is a pair of 6x8-inch, 2-ohm two-way convertible car speakers designed for factory-location upgrades and custom installations. Its removable tweeters allow the system to be configured as a conventional coaxial speaker pair or as a separated component setup. This flexibility helps accommodate vehicles with either a single door speaker location or separate factory tweeter locations.

Each side is rated for 75 watts RMS and 150 watts peak, making this set appropriate for use with a compatible aftermarket amplifier or a 2-ohm-capable factory system. The 2-ohm High Output design is intended to support strong output from compatible systems. Frequency response is rated from 45 Hz to 25 kHz, covering midbass through high-frequency detail.

The P2V2-68HO uses Rockford Fosgate's Interchangeable Locking Mechanism to secure the tweeter in the woofer for coaxial use or release it for component placement. When the tweeter is relocated, the included phase plug installs in the woofer center. This allows installers to use the same speaker set for a simpler replacement or a more focused front-stage layout.

A 3/4-inch Tetolon inverted-dome tweeter handles high frequencies, while the woofer uses a mica-reinforced polypropylene cone and Santoprene rubber surround. VAST 2.0 technology increases effective cone area for the speaker size. The system also uses a vented Kapton voice-coil former, Nomex spider, and ferrite motor structure.

For component use, the included external passive crossover provides a 9 kHz high-pass filter and selectable 0 dB or -3 dB tweeter attenuation. The speaker also has an internal 6 dB/octave tweeter crossover for coaxial configuration. Mounting hardware, crossover networks, tweeter cups, wiring accessories, and a cutout template are included, while speaker grilles are not included.

Design & Installation

The P2V2-68HO combines a 15% glass-fiber-reinforced PA66 composite basket, curvilinear mica-reinforced polypropylene cone, chemically bonded Santoprene half-roll surround, and fatigue-resistant Nomex spider. Its 1.25-inch vented Kapton voice coil and Y35 ferrite motor support thermal management and controlled operation. A removable motor cover helps reduce required mounting depth where space is limited.

Verify the vehicle's 6x8-inch mounting location, 7.19 x 5.18-inch cutout requirement, and available depth before installation. Standard mounting depth is 2.61 inches, or 2.37 inches with the motor cover removed. For separated-tweeter installations, install the included phase plug in each woofer and use the included external passive crossover; confirm that the connected radio or amplifier is compatible with a 2-ohm speaker load.
