Audison APX4 4" 2-Way Coaxial Speakers

The Audison APX4 is a pair of 4-inch, 2-way coaxial car speakers designed for compact factory speaker locations. Its integrated woofer and tweeter arrangement provides a space-conscious way to upgrade systems that use 100 mm speakers. With a 4-ohm load and 40 watts of continuous power handling, it is suited to factory-radio upgrades or properly matched aftermarket amplification.

A concentric coaxial tweeter places the high-frequency driver at the center of the woofer for a single sound-emission point. This design is intended to support consistent phase response and a focused acoustic image from typical vehicle speaker positions. The tweeter also uses an acoustic lens designed for linear response in off-axis installations.

The APX4 covers a specified 80 Hz to 23 kHz frequency range, with 91 dB SPL sensitivity. Its compact format is useful where a larger door speaker will not fit or where an OEM-sized 4-inch opening is available. The 120-watt peak rating provides additional short-term power capacity when paired with a suitable audio system.

Audison uses a water-repellent treated paper woofer cone with a profile developed through FEM simulation and optimized with Klippel Scan Vibrometer testing. The TPU surround uses the shallow Triple Wave profile to support excursion linearity. A 32 mm pure-copper woofer voice coil is paired with a 15 mm tweeter voice coil.

For installation flexibility, the APX4 uses a low-profile basket and has a 41 mm mounting depth. It can be considered for factory-location replacements where its mounting dimensions and 4-ohm impedance match the vehicle's requirements. Verify the available opening, mounting depth, wiring, and amplifier or head-unit compatibility before installation.

Design & Installation

The APX4 uses a water-repellent treated paper cone, a TPU surround, and a compact basket with abrasion-resistant, scratch-proof coating. Its motor is secured with damping epoxy adhesive. High-current fast-on terminals use double contacts on both positive and negative poles, with a temperature-resistant plastic terminal cover.

Confirm that the vehicle accepts a 100 mm speaker and provides at least the required 41 mm mounting depth before purchase. Observe speaker polarity when connecting the terminals, securely fasten the speakers to the vehicle structure, and keep wiring away from sharp edges, moving parts, heat sources, moisture, and vehicle electrical equipment. Protective grilles are not included; APG 4 grilles are available separately.
