Rockford Fosgate P1V2-4 4" 3-Way Coaxial Speakers

The Rockford Fosgate P1V2-4 is a pair of 4-inch, 4-ohm, 3-way coaxial speakers designed to replace factory full-range speakers in compact door, dash, or rear-deck locations. They combine a midrange driver, dome tweeter, and piezo super tweeter in each speaker to add high-frequency detail where factory single-cone speakers may be limited. This makes them a practical upgrade for vehicles using small OEM speaker locations.

Each speaker is rated for 75 watts RMS and 150 watts peak power handling. The 75 Hz to 25 kHz frequency response and 88 dB sensitivity rating at 2.83V/1m support use with compatible factory or aftermarket audio systems. The pair has a nominal 4-ohm impedance.

The P1V2-4 uses a mica-reinforced polypropylene curvilinear cone with a Santoprene half-roll surround. Its 3/4-inch Tetolon inverted-dome tweeter and 3/8-inch polypropylene piezo super tweeter provide the speaker's 3-way coaxial configuration. An internal concealed 6 dB/octave crossover network manages the high-frequency drivers.

Rockford Fosgate's VAST 2.0 surround geometry is used to increase effective cone area compared with the prior design. The speaker also uses Tru-Sight tweeter placement to align its coaxial high-frequency drivers. A vented Kapton voice-coil former, overhung voice coil, ferrite motor, Nomex spider, and reinforced composite basket support the speaker assembly.

For OEM-oriented installation flexibility, this model includes multiple Twist-Lock adapter styles and a cutout template. Included 33 µF bass blockers provide a 1,200 Hz, 6 dB/octave high-pass filter for the midrange section when installed inline on the positive speaker lead. Grilles are not included; compatible Rockford Fosgate GF-4 flush-mount and GS-4 surface-mount grilles are available separately.

Design & Installation

The P1V2-4 uses a mica-reinforced polypropylene cone, Santoprene half-roll surround, linear Nomex spider, and a 15% glass-fiber-reinforced PA66 composite basket. Its 1-inch voice coil uses a vented Kapton former, while the motor structure uses high-strength Y35 ferrite. Co-molded surround-to-cone construction and stitched tinsel leads are part of the speaker's physical design.

Confirm the 3.41-inch cutout requirement, available mounting depth, and 0.5-inch front-side clearance before installation. With the included Twist-Lock adaptor, rear-loading depth is 1.72 inches and front-loading depth is 1.99 inches. Use the supplied hardware and observe terminal polarity; if using the included bass blockers, install each inline with the positive speaker lead.
