The Viper DB3 is a universal, flashable data-bus interface module designed to integrate compatible aftermarket remote-start and security systems with a vehicle’s factory electronics. It combines door-lock control and override/bypass functionality in one compact module. The DB3 is intended for installers building a cleaner, more vehicle-specific integration than conventional hardwired interfaces alone.

This module is designed for compatible vehicles that use modern factory data networks, including multi-CAN architectures. Its dual CAN transceivers help it communicate with vehicles that use more than one CAN network. Vehicle compatibility, available functions, and required wiring vary by make, model, year, trim, ignition type, and installed accessories.

The DB3 is well suited to remote-start-ready applications, security-system integration, and factory-key-fob control configurations where supported. It can support 3X Lock Start on applicable vehicles, allowing remote-start activation through the factory remote. It does not produce or process audio; its role is to manage vehicle-interface functions within an aftermarket security or remote-start installation.

Directed’s Directechs platform provides vehicle-specific configuration information and installation documentation for supported applications. The module is flashable so the installer can load the appropriate firmware and feature set for the vehicle being serviced. This approach helps match the interface to the vehicle rather than relying on one fixed configuration.

The DB3 can be used with compatible Directed remote-start and SmartStart systems, and it works with compatible vehicle-specific T-harnesses where available. It also retains connection compatibility with DBALL2 T-harness solutions. For dependable operation and correct programming, this module is intended for professional installation.

Design & Installation

The DB3 uses a compact black module enclosure with dedicated harness connections for vehicle and accessory integration. Its hardware architecture includes dual CAN transceivers, a relocated two-pin RF port on the input side, and a unique module ID that can be used for service-history lookup. The package includes the DB3 module, four color-coded harnesses, and a warning sticker.

Installation requires selecting the correct firmware, vehicle-specific guide, and wiring method before connecting the module. Depending on the vehicle and available harness solution, installation generally requires vehicle wiring connections and may use a compatible T-harness to reduce connection work. Verify compatibility through Directed’s vehicle application resources and have a trained installer perform programming, wiring, and function testing.
