Rockford Fosgate RFK8 8 AWG Power Amplifier Install Kit

The Rockford Fosgate RFK8 is an 8 AWG power-only amplifier installation kit for adding a single aftermarket car audio amplifier. It provides the primary power, ground, remote-turn-on, fuse, and termination components needed to start an amplifier wiring installation. It is intended for installers who already have, or plan to buy separately, their signal cables and speaker wire.

This kit is suited to vehicle audio systems whose amplifier installation calls for 8 AWG power and ground cable. The 17-foot power cable supports battery-to-amplifier routing in many passenger vehicles, while the included 3-foot ground cable is intended for a short chassis-ground connection. A separate 20-foot remote-turn-on lead helps connect the amplifier's remote input to a compatible source unit or interface.

The RFK8 does not alter or process the audio signal, so it adds no sound coloration of its own. Its role is to provide a properly sized power path and installation hardware for the amplifier portion of a system. The power and ground cable use pure crystal oxygen-free copper construction and meet or exceed AWG requirements.

Rockford Fosgate specifies full-spec 8 AWG cable with a 735-strand construction and a 8.36 mm² conductor area. The kit also uses an AGU fuse holder and includes an AGU fuse for circuit protection. Brass hardware and included wire-termination pieces help complete common power and remote-wire connections.

Use the RFK8 as the power foundation for a single-amplifier upgrade where 8 AWG wiring is appropriate for the amplifier and installation length. It can be paired with separately purchased RCA or speaker-level signal connections, speaker wire, and any vehicle-specific integration parts required by the system. Confirm the amplifier manufacturer's power-wire and fuse recommendations before installation.

Design & Installation

The RFK8 combines high-strand-count PC-OFC power and ground cable with brass connection hardware. Its power cable has a red translucent jacket, the ground cable has a translucent gray jacket, and the remote lead has a blue jacket. The inline AGU fuse holder is designed to be installed on the power cable near the battery connection.

Route the power cable from the battery through a protected pass-through, install the fuse holder close to the battery, and secure the ground cable to a clean, short chassis-ground point. Use the included grommet, connectors, boots, and cable ties as appropriate, and follow the amplifier and vehicle instructions for fuse sizing and connection points. Speaker wire and RCA patch cables are not included and must be selected separately when needed.
